SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) is the largest online platform for supply chain sustainability. The information available on the platform is based on its own audit scheme called the SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA audit). Topics such as human rights, workers' rights, occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and business ethics, with a special focus on workers' rights, are assessed.
SMETA has created a standardized reporting format, making the information comparable. The report generated during the SMETA audit is uploaded to the SEDEX database. This internationally recognized platform significantly contributes to the transparency of sustainable corporate social responsibility and supports SEDEX members in supplier management and risk reduction.
The basis of the SEDEX audit is the ETI code (Ethical Trading Initiative). Audits are usually requested by suppliers from buyers.
